On September 10th, Edwards will hold a presentation of the opera together with music researcher Erling E. Guldbrandsen (UiO), director Valentina Carrasco and set designer Alfons Flores (La Fura dels Baus), bass Frode Olsen and musicians and singers from the Norwegian Opera and Ballett.
About Peter Edwards
Peter Edwards is a postdoctoral research fellow in musicology at the University in Oslo and a composer. He has written extensively on the music of György Ligeti and in 2012 completed a PhD thesis on Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre. In the thesis he critically examines Ligeti’s creative process and the sketches for the opera, as well as the significance of the opera in the wider context of (post)modernist aesthetics. He is also a member of MORG (Musical Modernism Research Group) – a collaboration between UiO, NMH and other music institutions in Europe and the USA.
