On Friday 12 September at Ultima Academy, contrabassist and dramaturg Uli Fussenegger will talk about his interest for Scelsi´s music, more especifically about the violin concerto Anahit, which he will analyze together with composer/conductor Johannes Kalitzke.
Born in 1966 in Feldkirch, Fusseneger studied with Franz Dunkler in Feldkirch and with Ludwig Streicher in Vienna. After a few years of intense concert activity, with emphasis on early music and historically authentic performance practice, he specialized in contemporary music and became a member of Klangforum Wien in 1987. Since then, he works as soloist as well as ensemble player; numerous works have been written especially for him, amongst others by Georges Aperghis, Bernhard Lang, Beat Furrer, Matthias Pintscher and Mauricio Sotelo. In addition, his field of expertise includes free improvisation and electronics; he participated in a great number of CD, DVD and TV productions as musician, composer, recording supervisor and producer. Uli Fussenegger has founded and still runs the CD label DURIAN Records. He teaches at the University for Music in Lucerne and at the International Holiday Courses for New Music in Darmstadt.
