Alessandra Carlotta Pellegrini is scientific director of Fondazione Isabella Scelsi in Rome. One of Italy’s foremost musicologists and twentieth-century music specialists, Pellgrini has written on Casella, Nono, Petrassi, and Scelsi among others. She has edited both Italian and French editions of Giacinto Scelsi’s autobiography Il sogno 101 , which she will present at Ultima Academy on Thursday 11 September, right before one of the festival´s main attractions, the Scelsi Revisited evening with Klangforum Wien.
Music as a Dream: Essays on Giacinto Scelsi from 2013 is a good introduction to the composer and to Pellegrino´s lecture. In this collection, Franco Sciannameo and Alessandra Carlotta Pellegrinis elect and translate into English for the first time essays that reflect the evolution of recent criticism on Scelsi’s musical compositions and life.
